Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
