Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
